If you are a "Kitchen Designer", chances are that you are also a "sales person". Actually, you are probably a "sales person" first because with-out the sale, there is no kitchen design. Early on in my sales/design career, I learned something very valuable, and that is that "selling is not telling".

One of the questions I hear most often is "How should I handle giving away my designs?" I just received this question in the "Ask Dave section of my website and I thougt it would be great topic for a blog so here it is. There are lots of schools of thought on this topic so I think I will list the different ways that I know other designers do it, and then I'll tell you my opinion and how I handle this situation.

Good Morning from Maui! I’m over here in Hawaii working with some kitchen showrooms, and one thing that I’ve noticed is that for some reason… Hawaii does not seem to be affected by the economy as much as other places that I visit or that I’ve heard about. My nature is to always ask “Why” and try to get to the bottom of things, so I started looking at what might be different about the industry or the way that the kitchen design showrooms do business over here. One of the things that I noticed right away is how “laid back” everyone is over here.
